Founded by Dr. Sonia Juneja, WFP has been delivering exceptional care to the Potomac region since 2013. At Washington Family Psychiatry, we don’t just treat patients, our goal is to provide holistic treatment to empower individuals to take charge of their own well-being.

With her immense psychiatric experience, training in forensic psychiatry and her innate ability to make her patients comfortable, Dr Juneja can get to the bottom of her patient’s issues relatively fast.
When it comes to navigating complex mental health challenges, there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all plan. Dr Juneja provides tailored treatments based on the patient’s unique history, genetics, age, and circumstances, using a holistic and systematic model that focuses on an individual’s physical, mental, spiritual and emotional needs and places great focus on their social well-being especially in relationship with other interacting systems such as friends, family, workplace and school.

We offer comprehensive services ranging from clinical diagnosis to customized treatment plans to ensure your uninhibited progress.
Initial diagnostic evaluation or consultation
The Initial Psychiatric Evaluation typically involves a 60 minute (adults) or 90 minute (children) Consultation. It is designed to obtain past and current medical, psychiatric, family and developmental history and to understand the patient’s mental, emotional, social, and behavioral status through structured engagement with children (and their caretakers) and adults. The evaluation is performed in a non-hurried manner, with a calm and empathetic demeanor to foster a collaborative atmosphere of care. After completion of the Initial Psychiatric Evaluation, a tailored plan of care is developed and discussed. Follow up appointment is scheduled based on the recommendations and plan discussed in the initial visit. Initial evaluation/consultation does not establish doctor-patient relationship.
Medication Management
At WFP, medication is prescribed after a thorough assessment and often combined with therapy. Dr. Juneja works closely with patients to find the most effective and appropriate medication options while monitoring their progress and making adjustments as necessary.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy sessions are offered alone (50 minutes) or combined with medication management (30 minutes). Dr. Juneja offers individual, couples, and family sessions. The goal in therapy is to enables each person to find their own version of success.
Parent Guidance Work
When working with children and teenagers, Dr. Juneja strongly values parental involvement, taking the time to explain possible treatment options, both therapeutic and pharmacologic, so together we can make the best decision for the child.
Telepsychiatry and Teletherapy
We understand that it’s difficult for some patients, especially those battling chronic diseases, to make time for a physical appointment. Telepsychiatry is conducted through HIPPA compliant tele communication platform using phone or computer.
Skills Coaching and Educational Counselling
We enable you to make career transitions with ease and empower you to navigate challenging life circumstances in a grounded manner.
Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation and Expert Witness
Dr. Juneja is trained in forensic psychiatry and can perform independent medical diagnostic evaluation for the court or legal purposes and is available to testify as an expert witness.
